SPEAKER AND SUBJECT – Pamela Lewis – Nuts and Bolts of Divorce

                                     

SUMMARY OF TALK
Pamela Lewis, Esq. is a matrimonial attorney who has been a litigator for 30 years and is a certified arbitrator and mediator.  Three reasons for a couple splitting are death of spouse, loss of employment and divorce of spouse.  Support groups are important to get through divorce process in a healthy manner.  Both sides need to have their own attorney.  The couple should interview at least two attorneys.  The rate for the attorney could be a fee based on hours or a fixed sum. Adultery, abandonment and irreconcilable differences were discussed as the past reasons for divorce.  In October 2012 New York went for a no-fault divorce basis.
