Village of Briarcliff Manor Honors Rotarian Ernie Pacchiana - May 7, 2010

On 3/17, I received an email from Past President Eric Lebenson to All Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Briarcliff Manor …
Subject: Ernie Pacchiana Day - May 7th
Hello, all -
I am writing to let you know that on May 7th, it is going to be "Ernie Pacchiana Day" at the Law Park Pavilion (the building above the pool, in front of the library). Another friend of Ernie's many of you know, Lou Wachtel, put this great plan in motion to honor a man who has done so much for Briarcliff Manor. You may know that in addition to being a Founding Member of our Rotary Club, Ernie has been an integral part of the popularity of tennis, platform tennis and other sports in Briarcliff; as such, the platform tennis courts will be named after him, along with other promised surprises, entertainment and guests.
The festivities will start at 7:00, and there will be cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, etc. FYI, this is not a surprise; we had to make sure he would be in town so we weren't celebrating without him! But, the less we talk about it, the more Ernie will be surprised at the turnout that I am quite certain will be tremendous.
You will be getting a "formal" invitation by e-mail soon, but I wanted to let you know to save the date.
Warmest Regards,
Eric

And I took some snap shots on May 7, 2010 at the party ...

Mother's Day Luncheon - 5/7/10 Video By Ken-Ichi Shimazu

Entertainment by Briarcliff Manor High School Musical Team

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

From President Mark Seiden

To all Active Members of the Briarcliff Manor Rotary Club:

There's a lot going on within the next couple of days all the way thru June
and beyond.

So, please take out your calendars, outlook, Blackberries, I-phones or
whatever you have to keep your schedule and get ready to enter some Rotary
events!

Ok, here's what is happening:

1. This Friday, May 7, is the Mother's Day celebration at our Rotary Club
Meeting. Set-up is at 11:30 and our guests will be arriving at 12 noon
sharp. So everyone, please come early this week! The guests eat first,
then there is entertainment.

2. Food Pantry Donations - Yes, this is still going on and we need
everyone to bring in canned/packaged food this Friday, May 7th.

3. Our Rotary Installation dinner is scheduled for Tuesday evening, June
8 at 6:30pm at the Briars Restaurant on North State Road to inaugurate our
incoming President, Julio Salazar!

a. Members are free (it's included in your annual dues)
b. Spouses/Significant others/Guests are $50.00 per person
c. Wine and soda is included for everyone
d. For Beer and liquor, there is a cash bar

4. "Briarcliff High School Senior Breakfast" is scheduled for Friday,
June 11th in the Middle School Cafeteria from 9:00am to 11:00am. For those
who wish to help, please call Rod Ertischek.

5. "Briarcliff Schools end of year Party - to promote summer reading,"
located on the grounds of the Briarcliff Library, is scheduled for Thursday,
June 24th at 3:30pm. Our club will be sponsoring the cotton candy and
popcorn and also manning the booths to serve them. We also have to bring
our "pop-up Rotary Tent" to set-up. So, we could use some help - please
contact Gerry Mahoney.

6. Annual dues for the 2010/2011 Briarcliff Manor Rotary Club membership
year is due no later than July 1, 2010. So, please be ready to pay your
dues. on-time. Ernie Pacchiana, our Treasurer, will be coming out with the
final amount as soon as he finds out if Rotary International is increasing
its dues or not. Our club will not be increasing any dues for our local
club fees or lunch fees. So, we are just waiting to hear from RI about those
dues.

7. Truck Show is scheduled for Sunday October 3rd at the Scarborough
Train Station Parking lot. Paul Rosen really needs someone to help him
coordinate this. So, if you can please be his co-organizer on this, he will
teach you the ropes. Please call Paul Rosen.

Thank you.

Yours in Rotary,
Mark J. Seiden
