from the president Mark Johnson

Hi Everyone,

Greetings and welcome to the beginning of a nice warm Summer season. I hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend with family and friends and have plans for a vacation soon!

This week our guest speaker is Debby Miller, a
clinical social worker at the Larchmont/Mamaroneck Community Counseling Center.  This organization serves as a safety net for kids and families in their community.  They provide counseling for individuals and families and have a parent center, offering a variety of groups to help parents get answers to their burning questions and support for the difficult job of parenting. In addition, they are also involved in the community and schools, providing substance abuse prevention education, identifying and offering help to at risk kids and running life skills groups for kids, and parenting programs on a variety of topics. Please come and learn about this great work and give our support to Debby.

One more reminder of the District 7230 Governor’s Installation on Sunday, June 10th where our own Kris Chittur will be sworn in as our new Governor. A note from your president Mark

Hi Everyone,

I hope your week is going well and that you enjoy the long Holiday weekend.

Last Friday we had a wonderful joint meeting with Pleasantville Rotary at St. Chris’s, Jenny Clarkson campus. We met many of the wonderful staff members and heard about the Animal Therapy program with goats and chicken. The campus there was much nicer than I anticipated. Visiting this campus, one could see the fruit of Dr. Maher’s efforts over the last 14 years as the CEO there. Thank you, Bobby!

This past Monday was the Briarcliff High School awards ceremony, where scholarships were given out to deserving students. This year’s recipients of the two Briarcliff Rotary scholarships were Sam Lanoff, (we all know how great he is) and the Mr. Sajan Bar. Both these young men upheld the spirit of Rotary of “Service Above Self” throughout their high school years and, on that foundation, will continue to grow in their service to others. Anne Cargill represented our club well, as she gave a short speech and handed out the awards.  Thank you Anne for always being willing to help when needed!

One last note is that we WILL NOT have a meeting this Friday due to the Memorial Day weekend. I look forward to seeing each of you next week.

** I have attached a few photos from last Friday’s meeting and the award ceremony.
