HAPPY THOUGHTS: Etrusca has a puppy (and Dr. Bob Amsterdam advises her son Zack how to raise dog); Eric, Carl Weiner is back and will be filing for 501(C)3 status for club; Mark Seiden because he is here; Sy is happy he is still able to bring Elinor to club meetings; Eric, still working on gettogether and gas prices are going down and daughter's accomplishment; and other happy thoughts not correctly recorded.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Treasurer Dr. Bob Maher, we have over $19,000 in treasury but some to cover meals, etc.; Magic Masters Nov. 7 at Briarcliff High School gym, Rotarians needed at 6:30pm. Magic Masters ads going well but need more. UN Day all sold out with many including high school club members going.

We need more Rotary Clubs, especially breakfast clubs, to be more serious about membership. His membership tools start with bold statement: create a large chart; display at each meeting; your club is showcased to all guests; try to bring more guests, as future members, especially local business people. Light up Rotary with one candle. He paid our president, Eric, a compliment. Also a thank you for the workers. Also, he complimented club on excellent food service delivered during meeting.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Don't forget Magic Master's basketball game on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 at BHS gym. We need more ads for the related journal. Via Dr. Maher, our treasury ok, about $18,000+. Our Board said OK for Kris to be District Governor in 2018. Rachel said that tomorrow was Fire Dep't's inspection.

Tom believes that there are many law suits OK'd by New York State that should not be authorized.  Many are class actions like the Red Bull $13 million settlement where the lawyers got $4.7 million. The Buffalo Bills got sued for sending too many texts.  Fire Fighters were sued by homeowner for damaging a house in a non-fire call. Usually, the insurance companies pay rather than litigate bad cases. OBGYN insurance about $280,000 a year.

SPEAKER AND SUBJECT: Jeff Pennington on Lincoln's Assassin.

                                                                                     SUMMARY OF TALK
Jeff believes that John Wilkes Booth was part of a conspiracy to kill Lincoln in 1890 and was not shot shortly thereafter but lived under an assumed name for decades afterwards. Booth later told the whole story some 25 years later. Another was shot in his place then the body burned in a tobacco-shed and was unidentifiable.The only photograh of the corpse was never printed and later lost.

1881: The 20th president, Thomas Garfield, died 2 1/2 months after being shot and Chester Arthur  became the next president.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Community day was had on Sunday September 14 and we made about $500 due to small attendance. All of the tickets for the Rotary UN day are sold.

SPEAKER AND SUBJECT: Bob Pargament on Hypnosis. He is a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists and head of the Westchester Hypnosis Center.

SUMMARY OF TALK
Bob is a certified hypnotist. Hypnosis is used to help deep relaxation, smoking cessation, weight reduction, fear elimination, motivation and success. sports performance, memory improvement, intimacy enhancement, self confidence, relationship issues, nervous habits, creative blocks, sleep continuity and anger management.  His sessions are not usually covered by insurance but try a referral by a physician. Self hypnosis is possible if one thinks it is possible. There may be flexibility for those with most need. Bob is a former smoker.  He changes lives, one at a time.
