Friday Aug. 24th club meeting

Hi Everyone,

Happy Blood Drive Day!! If you have not done so yet, it’s not too late to make a plan to roll up your sleeve this afternoon and share a pint!

Last Friday was a very special meeting. Stanley gave a great presentation on his efforts to be an Ambassador of Peace for his neighborhood around St. Christopher’s together with his Interactors. He also brought three students from the school that he works with, which was inspiring for all of us. He also was able to raise close to $250 on the spot selling really nice flower toped pens that students made at the school. Both Mark S. and Richard Zuckerman both gave $100 each to get the ball rolling. Thank you Mark S. and Richard.

This Friday we will have general meeting with club members, (guests are welcome) giving us a chance to get closer with each other. If you have anything you would like to bring up and share at the meeting, please feel free to do so. Rachael will be leading the meeting this Friday (all in preparation for her next year’s Presidency!). I have to be in Seattle for business, so I will not be there.

Just a quick reminder that we will not have a Rotary meeting Aug. 31st due to the Labor Day weekend. See you on September 7th.

For this Friday, Mark J, presiden

Hi Everyone,

Happy Thursday! I hope all of you are having a great week!

I heard from Anne that our club had an exciting discussion last Friday concerning privacy problems on the internet. She mentioned that there are currently over 2.5 Billion active people on Facebook alone. That’s an amazing number! Thank you Anne for leading the meeting.

This week our guest speaker is Chuck Newman who is a good friend of Howie’s. He will give us a brief update on the insurance market in 2018 & 2019. Here is a short bio I received from him: “Charles J. (Chuck) Newman CLU, Principal of The Charles J. Newman Co., LLC is a licensed insurance agent and registered representative maintaining agent and brokerage relationships with more than five dozen insurance companies.  He provides a full range of group and Employee Benefit programs (including Medical, Dental, LTD, STD, Life and Accident coverage) to over 150 group clients as well as individual insurance policies (Life, Disability, Long Term Care, and Annuities) to more than 2,000 individual clients.  Chuck is certified by the New York and Connecticut Partnerships for Long Term Care.” I hear he is a dynamic speaker so it should be great.

Today I have few family members flying in to celebrate my oldest sons recent marriage, so I will not be able to be there. Eric has graciously agreed to lead the meeting this Friday, thank you Eric.

Have a great meeting and I look forward to seeing you next Friday.

This Friday Aug. 3, 2018

Dear Fellow Briarcliff Rotarians,

Can you believe we are already into the month of August? This Summer is going so fast, not to mention all the rain for our gardens, keeping our yards nice and green and filling our reservoirs to the brim. I read some good news yesterday that we should expect a long warm and colorful Autumn season in the Northeast this year.

Last week Kris, our District Governor, shared some inspiring highlights and talks from the recent Rotary Convention in Toronto. He encouraged us to visit the Rotary website at www.rotary.org to discover the many resources available to all Rotarians. You can also locate many of the inspiring speeches given at the convention.

This week will be our Friday to just be with ourselves, without a guest speaker. As always, I encourage anyone from our club to share a bit about their own life or what is inspiring them now. Also, if you have ideas on how to improve our club and make it even more vibrant, that is always welcome.

Hope to see you tomorrow!

Mark J.
