Pictures of Induction of President at the District Installation Luncheon

President Elect Eric Lebenson, President 2013-14 Anne Cargill, Immediate Past President Kris Chittur, and Rotarian Frances Chu of Briarcliff Manor Rotary Club attended the District 7230 Installation Luncheon at the Larchmont Yacht Club on June 22, 2014.

Attended by over 120 Rotarians and guests, the luncheon was a great success. It was well organized, informative, inspiring, and fun. Following are some sample snapshots; mostly featuring our President-Elect Eric Lebenson.

SPEAKERS AND SUBJECT:  Howard Penn on First Aid Kits as fund raisers.



                                                        SUMMARY OF TALK
The speaker is from Ossining Rotary. He had available some 16 first aid kits for resale to customers with Rotary keeping half of the sales. First aid kits for every day use are $12, for larger units (168 pieces), $120.  First aid kits are for sports, outdoors, auto, business and food services. Everyone should have at least a basic kit. George Camp, a guest and another Ossining Rotarian, with the speaker spoke about the Gift of Life program for babies world-wide who need mostly-heart surgery.

                                                        SUMMARY OF TALK
A buyer has to have title insurance in order to protect against some past weakness in the title to property buyer is buying. Continuing education is part of the real estate law. Cost of title insurance is dependent on cost of property, prior ownership, deeds and covenants. Fraud is rampant, especially if property one is buying is owned by a divorced couple. A number of horror stories were told.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Elinor and Sy will be at Cornell in Ithaca for her 60th reunion instead of June 6 Rotary meeting.

GUESTS: Five, two seniors from Briarcliff HS who got Rotary Club scholarships with mother of one; two sophomore students who went to Rotary camp in New Jersey.

SPEAKER AND SUBJECT: Kristen Holmes-Linder on Power of Art

                                                        SUMMARY OF TALK
Kristen Linder taught the power of art at the Cottage where most students are not capable of going to regular school. Through art the students were able to express themselves. They were able to draw a mural which gave them much personal satisfaction. Kristen thus changes some of their lives.
