SPEAKER is Cornelia Schimert, an RN, who went to elementary and high
school in Chicago and who has a B.S. in Nursing from NYU.
SUMMARY OF TALK
She is Director of the Visiting Nurse Association of the Hudson Valley,
and includes hospice care in Westchester and Putnam counties of the State
of New York. She is in charge of the Home Health Services and can be
reached at 914-774-8040, which is her cell number, and her Association is
a non-profit group. Their services are free. And she is honored to be here
to talk about the visiting nurses. The organization has been around for
over 100 years and was pioneered years ago. Her Visiting Nurse Association
works from birth to death and her Association is in touch with Ellen Woods
at Phelps. The Association is funded by Medicaid, Medicare and Insurance
Companies. Her group works on Alzheimer's disease and she is particularly
attracted to young families. They have their own chaplain. Many of her
patients love music and memory, and she tries to keep patients out of the
hospital. She is in charge of The Caring Circle Program which includes
Bereavement Services. Their corporate office is in Tarrytown and their
Putnam Office is in Brewster.
