PRESENT AND ANNOUNCEMENTS - 19 Rotarians present. Via Ernie,
Community Day earned our club a little over $1000, down from last
year. Our club presents on Thursday Sept. 19 at the library at 6:30 a
presentation by Dr. A. Nair on Some Secrets of an Ancient Science of
Healing.
SPEAKER
AND SUBJECT – District Governor Matts Ingemanson.
(He was asked to provide a summary of his talk but as of now has
failed to supply one. So Elinor provided the following summary.)
SUMMARY
OF TALK
He
was born and went to school and college in Sweden. The District does
not dictate any laws to local clubs but he has the authority to
terminate a club. Bill Gates has donated $355 million to wipe out
world wide polio, which Rotary Internatinal pioneered. See RI web
site for details. Rotary is like a family with local clubs the center
of authority. Paul Harris, over 100 years ago, was expelled from high
school but later formed Rotary. His basic teaching was tolerance.
Most clubs now have women. He is a member of the Yonkers club.
