SUMMARY OF TALK

“For All Seasons” is a non-profit organization formed by a group of women in the Briarcliff area to assist families and children in the Briarcliff-Ossining area.  Some children in Ossining and Briarcliff have monetary needs that are being met by both villages.  There are unrecognized problems, especially around holiday times when extra cash is needed but not always available.  The group does three main fundraisers and tries to meet any needs in between that come from the school social workers.  At the beginning of each school year many children are in need of backpacks and school supplies.  Children need clothes as they quickly grow out of their own.  They have been able to supply walkers for disabled children.  Often, $100 dollars can make a difference on the opening of school.  Other grants have been to assist in the payment of SAT classes for high school students.  All funds or supplies are given anonymously as personal pride is involved.  In some instances a child is in need of glasses that parents can’t afford.  When a family lost their home in a fire, the social workers contacted this group to obtain assistance.  They have also been able to supply clothes so children can go to their graduation and dress like all their classmates.  Summer Camp is another way this group helps.  They have been able to send many children to many different types of camps who otherwise are not able to afford to go.
