SUMMARY OF TALK
Commissioner Fraser was appointed to the Boston Fire Department in 2006, the largest in New England and has greatly improved training, readiness and professionalism. After being commissioned in the Navy in 1986, he spent 20 years culminating in commanding USS Underwood, a guided missile ship home ported in Mayport, FLA. He led the ship and crew to the Northern Arabian Gulf and was responsible for protecting the Iraqi offshore oil terminals at Al Basrah and Khor Alamaya. He was also responsible for training the Iraqi Army in anti-terrorism to enable them to protect themselves. He has been awarded the meritorious service medal, two gold stars, achievement medals, unit awards and commandments.
