I hope we'll see you tomorrow for our regular meeting/luncheon.  Our speaker is Jim Killoran, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity.  Jim is a inspired speaker, friend of our club and friend of Rotary - not to mention doing extraordinary work in our community.
Please come out and support Jim. (He expressed concern that Friday before Memorial Day might be a small crowd.  Let's show Jim some BMRC enthusiasm!

We meet at the Briars Restaurant, 512 N State Rd, Briarcliff Manor, NY
We gather at Noon and the meeting begins at 12:15P.
The cost of lunch is $20.00 for which there is a choice of many entrees, soup or salad, coffee, tea, desert and beverage.
We sell 50/50 raffle tickets at the door - 1 ticket for $2.00 & 3 tickets for $5.00 as well as "happy bucks" which is an opportunity to briefly address the club with a comment, recognition or toast - costs as little as a buck ($1.00).

SPEAKER: Anne Cargill who did Elementary, High School and College in
Scotland, then two MAs in US Psychology at Marymount College.
                        SUMMARY OF TALK
She had many daughters but only one son, David, who was shot on the West
Side highway then died in Harlem Hospital and this is his 26th
anniversary. She attended killer's parole hearing while still married. He,
David, was the apple of her eye and wanted to fly an airplane. He went to
college for two years. The killer was from Washington Heights and got 20
years to life imprisonment.

SPEAKER: Shah Latif, he did elementary and high school then a degree in mathematics and physics all in Pakistan, then became an American and is a Rotarian from East Yonkers, did an MA from Pace.
                           SUMMARY OF TALK How Rotary International works for Peace. There are many Rotarians from many international chapters. The United Nations was started by Rotarians.
We should use our brains. Now have Rotary in Japan (and in Tokyo many clubs with an overseeing club). The key is education. Also comments re India and Pakistan, Moslems, Languages.

Dear Rotarians, Friends & Guests:
We had a really fun and successful Cap't Lawrence fundraiser on Monday.  Hopefully we'll briefly discuss the event details tomorrow.  We will also announce, affirm and describe this year's winners of The Leonard Young Community Service Award and the Briarcliff Manor Rotary Community Service Award.
Lastly, please remember this Saturday is the Rotary District’s Forum on “Strategic Action Plan”. It will run from 9:00 a.m to 2:15 p.m. in the Briarcliff Manor High School.
Tomorrow's speaker is Rotarian, Shah Latif.  His talk is titled, "Rotary and World Peace".  Shah and Aura will be our lunch guests.

SPEAKER is Sandy Galef, a NYS assemblywoman, who went to elementary and
high school in White Plains, got BS at Purdue and MA at Univ. of Virginia
and was a teacher.
                            SUMMARY OF TALK
She has spent some 18 years in NYS Assembly. The budget was passed but not
until some obstructions were passed including office buildings re
assessment, which could include rent. There are many local issues
including water and taxes. There are two golf courses in Briarcliff,
Trump's and Sleepy Hollow's which (according to Mark S. are taxed as golf
courses and not according to area). But the judges will decide
assessments. And there are problems with Medicare and Medicaid and nursing
