We meet at the Briars Restaurant, 512 N State Rd, Briarcliff Manor, NY

We gather at Noon and the meeting begins at 12:15P.

The cost of lunch is $20.00 for which there is a choice of many entrees, soup or salad, coffee, tea, desert and beverage.

We sell 50/50 raffle tickets at the door - 1 ticket for $2.00 & 3 tickets for $5.00 as well as "happy bucks" which is an opportunity to briefly address the club with a comment, recognition or toast - costs as little as a buck ($1.00).

ROTARIANS PRESENT: 13, He, Scott, invited the Dr. from Nigeria to speak,
and our club will receive an event sponsorship of $500 from Phelps Hospital.

GUESTS: Howie Kutcher (pianist), Lauri Racanelli from Atria.

HAPPY THOUGHTS
Scott, he attended Yonkers Rotary and for our club gave them $110 for relief of the Yonker's apartment building fire, which was received warmly, he was in Newark Rotary with his son Sam
Dr. Bob Maher ($20) he is happy with Speakers, he was Grand Marshall at
St. Patrick's Parade but fell, heard from Ernie that Marie Fuesy (a past
Rotarian) has passed away in Florida
Eric ($10) re Lou Wachtel and in Ossining was Michael and his coach for 10
years
Ellen is happy to be here and to talk about Phelps
Bob is happy to be here and to talk about Phelps
Rich is happy re our guests and that Maher is okay

This Friday we have scheduled: Richard Zuckerman, President G & Z Systems, Inc. (IT Experts) - Since 1981 and  Enveloping Sound on North State Road in Briarcliff, across from The Briars.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Via Dr. Maher, our treasury is good, and Via Eric, don't
forget about Elmsford Cap't Lawrence Brewery fundraiser on Monday, May 1st.
SPEAKERS on Phelps Hospital. We have two, Ellen Woods and Robert (Bob)
Lane. Re Bob, he went to elementary and high school in Endicott, NY and
then got a B.S. in Business Science from Binghamton. Re Ellen, she was
raised in New Jersey and then got a B.S. in Health Services from
Montclair, in NJ and an M.P.A. in Health Care Administration from Long
Island University.
                        SUMMARY OF TALKS
Via Bob. future will bring 1800 patients with three million in last five
years. Also, have a new cancer center with Sloan Kettering.
Via Ellen (who spoke the longest), She is the program coordinator with
strategic goals of Vitality, Community Collaboration, Nurse Improvement
and Home Training.

Scott: He invited Dr. Oriniowo, attended a Yonkers Event, and Anne and
Bishop John ok, with Kris back home.
Eric: for guest plus daughter Julia, now a sophomore, spent three nights
at Model UN event in NYC, plus Rotary fundraiser (See Maher below).
Rebecca is happy to be here.
Rich Z. is happy it is a beautiful day.
Dr. Maher ($20) David passed away (apparently from St. Christopher's) and
re Rotary fundraiser at Capt. Laurence on May 1, cost $50 per person for
all you can eat. The treasury is ok.
Mark J. is happy that the snow is mostly gone.
Etrusca is just happy.

SPEAKERS; Mark J. re: Global Peace Convention - Also, brief remarks from Dr. Oriniowo
SUMMARY OF TALKS
Mark J. re: Global Peace Convention in Manila from February 28 to
March 3, attended by many, mostly young people. The first convention was
in 1909. The Phillipines has almost 7,000 islands. Attended by three
ex-presidents. Not a Rotary affair but nonprofit. Included reunification
of North and South Koreas.  Sponsors included IBM and EPSON.

Dr. Oriniowo (IN ENGLISH) re: fundraiser from his Rotary Club in Abadan,
Nigeria.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY 1837: The Illinois town of Chicago was incorporated as a city, with a population of 4,170. MEETING LEADER: President Scott Lanoff ROTARIANS PRESENT = 17 GUESTS: Village trustees Brian Zirman and Howard Ruth plus committee members Nancy Fierts and Douglas Royce with Village Manager Phil Zagarelli (ex-mayor of what used to be called North Tarrytown now Sleepy Hollow) plus Lauri Racanelli and Elizabeth Connors from Atria. Pledge, Scott   Song, Sy     Prayer: Scott (plus long dissertation) HAPPY THOUGHTS Scott, his son in newspaper, he enjoyed St. Kitts and went to a breakfast Rotary meeting there Ellen, re Phelps Hospital and Bob Lane (who will speak March 24) Dr. Maher ($20) re Lou and his wife, all graduates of Briarcliff High School, and Brian plays basketball. Rich Z, mom's and sister's birthday Stan, re Lou (probably Fitzgerald) Joe ($10) re Lou TEXT, Elinor with helper Sy ANNOUNCEMENTS: Treasury is OK. May 1 is a fundraiser at Capt. Laurence's Brewery in Elmsford and May 12 is Mother's Day. SPEAKERS: Lou Wachtel, Elementary and High School in Bronx, plus B.S. in Business who introduces Lori Sullivan, the Mayor of Briarcliff Manor, who has a B.A. from Stonehill College in Mass. plus a J.D. from Pace, who talked about future changes in the village to make Briarcliff Manor more updated.                        SUMMARY OF TALKS We need a bakery. (In later telephone call with the Village Manager, who said cutting down Oak trees is years away. I (Sy) said we have a (similar) red Oak, which goes through the house roof, which has a maximum height of 80 feet so no repeat no need to cut Oaks down.) Village should be vibrant and appealing. Should be a business district.  We (Village) have an advisory committee. The committee looked at Chappaqua. We require rezoning. Have to talk with landlords. We need a new sidewalk and shops should be repainted. We need new planters and a lot of money. Change has to financially make sense. (Rotary in Briarcliff wants to put bronze statue of Water Law bust on pedestal in front of Municipal Building on a brick terrace. A copy of proposal was sent to Village Manager in March 2017. Rotary proposal requires Village consent.)
