SPEAKER AND SUBJECT – Dr. Rolande Hodel on Drug Production in Camaroon, Africa
SUMMARY OF TALK
In Camaroon, Africa, the mission is to support Africans to produce drugs. Their vision is an Africa which is free of HIV – Aids. Camaroon is one of the worst places in Africa to produce the needed drugs. Labor is cheap and the people are bilingual, English and French. They are using an expensive machine to put pills into blister packs. The people don’t die of Aids, but their immune systems are suppressed and they die of meningitis or tuberculosis. The aim is to produce drugs locally to fight these diseases.
Dr. Hodel has been given a plot of land in recognition of her efforts.
