Rotary this Friday

Last week Dr. Jim Kaishian, Briarcliff Manors Superintendent of Schools, was our guest speaker. He shared in great detail future plans and developments for Briarcliff schools and students, which is quite exciting. The way many of us learned is changing from sitting at our desks to a more open classroom concept with small group interaction. Also technology is helping advance the learning process. Jim mentioned that all High School and I believe middle school students are given a laptop MacBook Pros to use in the classroom and take home as well. He also talked about how they are dealing with security issues at the schools. These were but a few of the many things Jim talked about.

This week our guest speaker is Andrew Kabatchnick. Andrew is a local CPA that has been in this business for over 10 years.  The main focus of his talk will be on taxes, accounting, and financial health for his clients.  He would also like to discuss with us the new tax law and tax planning.

Just a friendly reminder to get out and sell ads for our Journal. Our goal is 5 ads per member. This is so easy to do, just ask those you do business with and you will be surprised when most say yes.

Hope to see all of you tomorrow.

Oct. 5, 2018

Hi Everyone,

Last week we had a full house, with many guests, to hear a great presentation by Dr. Smalt on how to be healthy and extend our lives on this earth! Always the challenge is to act on good advice and change our habits when needed.

This Friday our guest speaker will be Dr. Jim Kaishian, Briarcliff Manor Superintendent of Schools. He will speak on the proposed Capital Plan for the school district. Jim gave a very inspiring talk about one year ago at our club, so I encourage you to come and learn more about this proposed plan related to the education of the youth in this community. This is also a great time to bring a guest.

I hope to see all of you tomorrow!

From Mark J. President

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for getting this to you so late!

Last week we were fortunate to have Susan Sommer from American Red Cross return as our guest speaker. She shared her gratitude for our clubs support for the blood drive we promoted and supported during the summer. During this visit she talked about the broader scope of the good work that the Red Cross is performing, which is quite impressive.

As I mentioned earlier this week Dr. Smalt, the author of a new book called,
“A Healthier You - How Much Time Do You Have Left?”, will be our guest speaker this Friday. We hope for a “healthy” turnout this Friday so we can lend our support for Dr. Smalt and also encourage him to join our Briarcliff Rotary. Come and find out how you might be able to become healthier and hopefully extend the time you have left!

This Friday

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Just a quick note to remind everyone, Bobby’s friend Dr. Smalt, who just wrote a book , “A Healthier You - How Much Time Do You Have Left?” will be our guest this Friday. Bobby is hoping that we can have a big turnout to support Dr. Smalt and to encourage him to become a member of our club. This is also a great time to invite a friend or an acquaintance to come and experience our Rotary family.

From Mark J. president BMR

Dear fellow Briarcliff Manor Rotarians,

Last week our speaker was Carola Bracco from Neighbors Link with offices in Mt. Kisco, Yonkers and Ossining. Their mission is to strengthen the whole community through the healthy integration of immigrants. I was not able to be present to hear about this important work, so if you want to learn what was shared by Ms. Bracco please reach out to one of our members who attended.

This Friday, Susan Sommer, from the Red Cross, will be our guest. She will share some news on the recent Blood Drive that our club helped organize at the Youth Center in Briarcliff. She is grateful for our support with this event and would like to discuss how we can work together in the future.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Friday Sept. 13, 2018

I hope your week is going well! Please keep all those in harm’s way on the Southern East Coast in your thoughts and prayers.

Last week our guest speaker, Dr. Dizdareivic, an Orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee and hip replacement, gave a very interesting and informative presentation that prompted a good question and answer session on the subject. Hopefully none of us will need to have this surgery but, if we do, what we learned will help us make good decisions.

This week Carola Bracco, the Executive Director from Neighbors Link will share about the important work they are doing. The Neighbors Link’s mission is to strengthen the whole community through the heathy integration of immigrants. They currently have three locations, in Mt. Kisco, Yonkers and Ossining.
